Dinos and a WINNER

This past week was all about DiNoSaUrS and reptiles!!! RAWRRR!!! haha my kids had such a great time learning all that we did, but I couldn't post about it this weekend because there was one activity that we had to finish up today since last week was a short week for us. It was so fun!! If you're looking for some great dinos centers, visit my tpt store and pick up that pack. It's short, sweet, and gets the job done. You can see some of the activities in the preview below. As for our theme craftivities, we made a T-Rex mouth and counted his teeth vs. our teeth, we made pattern plate stegosaurus, a dino lifecycle, and to throw in a few reptile activities we made and watercolored a chameleon, and today we made Alligator Pie! Yum Yum! Take a look at all of the cute pictures. At the very end you'll find the GIVEAWAY WINNER!!

The Zoo! The Zoo!

Wow! the last 2 weeks have been jam packed full of zoo excitement. We spent  9 whole days learning everything imaginable about the zoo, and then on day ten we got to experience the zoo in real life. This was such a big deal for the majority of my kiddos...some had no clue the zoo even existed until now! Crazy right??

Okay, on to the learning. Of course all of our zoo math and literacy centers can be seen in the preview below. You can pick these up in my tpt store. We also made a fact book of several different zoo animals. It was so much fun to hear my kiddos at the zoo say "Hey Mom! Did you know an elephant can eat 1,000 pounds of food everyday! I bet I can do that!" haha love those little guys and I am so proud that they are learning!!! We also chose 4 zoo animals that we were the most excited to see and colored a picture, read several fact books, made that animal, and wrote some fact strips to go out in the hallway. Check out the pictures so you can see all the fun!

Farm Fun at BSLK and a Zoo FREEBIE!

What a way to spend Good Friday! If we can't be out of school, then I can think of no better way to spend it than with my 18 sweet little kinders on Farm Day! We started the morning bright and early just like real farmers and spent all day visiting different parts of our school learning everything there is to know about farm life. We learned all about how milk comes from a cow and makes it to our table by doing a relay race, we did some fun barrel racing with Coach in the gym, and spent some time petting all kinds of farm animals. The kids even got to hold their very own baby chicks which they LOVED! Later, we learned all about planting crops and flowers, we experienced some farm life fun by "shaving" sheep (the picture explains it all), we met Mrs. Wishy Washy, and we learned EVERYTHING there is to know about horses from our  ELL teacher and her horse, Flash. I've posted all kinds of pictures of the days activities. Oh! I also managed to squeeze in enough time for a FREE Zoo Word Search. It's posted in my tpt store, so you can grab it here. I also posted a picture of our grassheads after about 3 weeks! They turned out so cute with their little faces!

These were the lima beans that the kids got to plant in crystal soil so they could actually see the growth process. The lady in charge of the planting station told the kids that these were their "baby beans" and they had to love and take care of it just like a baby, so they decided to name their babies...there a several interesting names as you can see. My favorite was Judy Bean haha. I LOVE my kids!

Hooray for Zoo!!

Hey y'all!! I've just finished my zoo unit for math and literacy. School is SO busy right now with getting ready for DIBELS and getting all of the end of year assessing completed, so this unit doesn't have the colored images that I usually include. If you need those images I will be more than happy to send them to you! Just let me know! This unit has 8 literacy and 7 math activities. Oh! I'm working on a zoo word search freebie as well, so keep an eye out for that in the next day or so! This Friday is FaRm DaY so there'll be a post about that as well. I'm so excited about my first farm day with the best group of kinders ever! Take a look at my ZOO preview and if your interested you can grab it HERE.
